Fogga Croft is a truly delightful stone-built home right opposite The Coniston Hotel Country Estate and Spa, not too far out of Skipton on the A65. The flagship property of Bracken and Stone, Fogga Croft is designed to bring people closer for intimate gatherings, celebrations or simply to chill out and disconnect from this crazy world with family and friends in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

It boasts no less than 6 boutique style bedrooms, all ensuite and all a little bit different from each other,  a hot tub, a wood burner, an enclosed garden and also it’s very own field at the side of the property. It’s super tastefully decorated throughout with lots of nods to the local area including a gorgeous mural in the spacious living room.

So why am I, a celebrant, writing a blog about a holiday home, you may ask? Well, although social media has it’s flaws ( doesn’t it just! ) it is a wonderful marketing and networking tool, and it is where Caroline, of Bracken and Stone, and myself came into each other’s orbit. She was wondering about the possibility of Fogga Croft being used for intimate ceremonies –  weddings and vow renewals for example, and reached out to invite me over for a look and to share ideas.

Never one to turn down an invite, I drove over to Fogga Croft a couple of weeks ago and was blown away. I could just imagine arriving there with friends for a party weekend, all of us eating around the huge dining table and chatting through to the small hours in the cosy lounge in front of a roaring fire. Think the video to Last Christmas by Wham – that is the vibe it’s giving.

But, back to business – how could Fogga Croft be utilised as a celebration venue? Well, as a wedding venue of course it is niche. Out of all the weddings I’ve been a part of, only a couple have had less than 12 guests, but wow, they have been super special.  A vow renewal could work well here too, especially combined with a landmark birthday, celebrated with one’s closest friends and family.  I officiated at a funeral recently where family members had come together from different parts of the country to celebrate their Dad’s life – how nice would it be to do that, all together, in this kind of setting.

So, in conclusion I think that yes, for small, intimate celebrations in the most beautiful of locations, Fogga Croft certainly ticks a lot of boxes. Have a look at their website here, and if you need a celebrant to get the party started well hey, you know where I am.
