For the vast majority of my working life I have been a professional singer, mostly on the island of Tenerife, where I lived for twenty years. After returning to the UK in 2018, I, along with my husband Tony and son Alfie, ran a pub near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Like many people, Covid 19 lockdowns changed our perceptions and life expectations and we began to look at just how many hours we were working. I was ready for yet another career change.
Suddenly losing my dear father, Kenn, in June 2020 meant us using the services of a celebrant, as we wanted a non religious service. I realised at that moment that I had this skill set already, from my years of singing to the public, my people skills and my love of writing. It seemed too obvious to ignore so I retrained as a civil celebrant early in 2021 with the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC), and am loving my new life.
I am very lucky to have two bases, one in the stunning Yorkshire Dales near Skipton, and the other in Pontefract West Yorkshire. This means I can easily cover Yorkshire and beyond if and when needed.
