My 2025 Yorkshire Weddings
I just thought I would do a little round up of my 2025 Yorkshire Weddings, it sure was a fantastic year.
It all started in April with a trip to York for the wedding of Martin and Vicky at White Syke Fields, a magical barn wedding venue at Sand Hutton. It was full of colour, glitter and disco vibes and I loved it!!
In May, it was the turn of Gary and Lynne who proved that it’s never too late to find love. Gary had suffered a cancer battle and once recovered, they decided to cement their deep love for one another, at the beautiful Bagden Hall near Huddersfield. It was intimate and emotional, a truly joyous day.
Later the same month I delivered the wedding ceremony of Luke and Jo at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate. Lifelong Disney fans, there were loads of nods to the likes of Mickie & Minnie in the room décor, and they had their hands tied by myself in cords made by Jo, a lovely personal touch. The first wedding in June was local to me, at one of my favourite places, Elsworth at The Mill in Skipton. Stuart and Kate have been sweethearts since their school days and their friends did readings and really made the occasion so very personal and warm. My second June ceremony was in the magnificent 19th Century Chapel at Rudding Park, Harrogate where two beautiful people known as Tom and Beck celebrated their marriage. This sure was an Instagramable wedding giving Hollywood film star vibes, all captured by the talented Vivienne Edge Weddings.

The following day I drove over to the Swinton Estate, Masham for an outdoor wedding at the Druid’s Temple where Jack and Mica made their vows to one another. Modelled on Stonehenge, it is a 19th Century folly but it certainly has pagan vibes going on, and is a wonderful place to tie the knot, which our couple did, much to their guest’s joy. My final June wedding was at East Keswick, near Wetherby, where the bride, Jessica was the daughter of a friend of ours. Her marriage to Kane was postponed for a year following the sad passing of her mother in 2024, and a beautiful memory tribute was made by hanging photos of absent family and friends in a nearby tree. The venue was the village hall, and we did the ceremony outside, the guests being seated on hay bales, with some friendly cows looking over at the proceedings. Magical. In July I headed over to Brighouse to take the wedding of Lee and Kay at the Black Horse. They wanted low key no frills so we went with that vibe. It was such good fun and their children are simply adorable!!
In August I had a commitment ceremony in Maltby, South Yorkshire where Sarah and Marcus pledged their love and commitment to one another in the presence of their family and friends. We did a sand ceremony where the children of the two families blended coloured sands into a keepsake bottle. A lovely ritual.
The following day I was at the beautiful Hodroyd Hall not far from my hometown of Pontefract to celebrate the marriage of Dom and Becky. This was the smallest wedding I have ever done, with just 6 guests present, but wow, did it make for an intimate ceremony. The love between these two was tangible!!

I was honoured to be the chosen celebrant for three weddings held at the ever majestic Falcon Manor in Settle last summer. This really is an exquisite venue, with both indoor and outdoor spaces to cater for any eventuality. On the 10th August we celebrated Ellie and Jack, and when the doors were flung open and she was standing there, there was a gasp amongst the guests, me included. The vision of a princess right there. On the 17th August I drove south to Sheffield, at a really gorgeous place called Whitley Hall. It’s huge, and there were actually two weddings happening at the same time – in separate parts of the venue, obviously. Molly and Luke really wanted an outdoor wedding, and the weather was kind to us so we made it happen, in front of a bandstand in beautiful gardens. Another stunning bride, she just looked amazing.

On the 30th August it was time for the utterly, unashamedly outrageous wedding of Leonie and Paul, again at Falcon Manor. The brief was, bright, pinks, oranges and Doc Marten’s if possible. I obliged as you can see!!! The bride danced down the aisle as the guests clapped and cheered, the ceremony was emotional and raw, and we all drank fizz outside in the garden to the sounds of a steel band. It was loud, it was fun, it was magnificent!!

My final trip to Falcon Manor was my final wedding of the year, on the 18th September, to celebrate Chris and Becky’s marriage. The weather had turned cooler but no problem, the log fire was burning and the place looked cosy and gorgeous as Autumn took hold. We had the best time, and I hope to be back in Settle soon.
So that’s a little peek back to 2025, it was a blast and I loved it all. Now the government have promised to finally address the issue of marriage law reform we celebrants should be doing the legal part of marriages in the hopefully not too distant future. Now that will make it a level playing field. We do expect some pushback from Regional Councils who have had the monopoly on legal, non religious marriages for the longest time, but as the song goes, the times they are a changing.
